Free museum day in Los Angeles? Mark your calendar folks.
Saturday, September 26 is Museum Day Live!, a national event created by Smithsonian Magazine that will provide free entry to some 1,300 museums throughout the country, including 12 around the city of Los Angeles.
Among the confirmed L.A. participants are The Grammy Museum, The Japanese American National Museum, The Autry, and the Museum of Latin American Art (complete list below).
Want to take advantage of the offer? Just go to the event’s website and download a voucher that gains you entry at any of the participating venues during the specified hours of operation.
I’d advise double verifying the hours of each location before you head out on that Saturday, as in researching this post I realized that the Zimmer Children’s Museum will honor the Museum Day Live! freebie on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 12:30pm ‐ 4:00pm (and will be closed on Saturday).
Also, if you can’t make it out on September 26, keep in mind Los Angeles has a ton of free museums / museum days year-round that you can take advantage of.
Enjoy!
