A huge street festival returns to Broadway this month with live music and wild performances on the street and inside downtown Los Angeles’ historic theaters.
Following last year’s successful spectacle, the second annual Night On Broadway will take place the evening of Jan. 30 and feature plenty of art, entertainment and food. The free event is the eighth anniversary celebration for the Bringing Back Broadway initiative led by Councilman José Huizar, and is likely to be just as fun as it was last year—if not more. Last year over 35,000 people showed up, according to the organizers.
The block party will shut down Broadway between 3rd Street and Olympic Boulevard to allow the public to take over the street, enjoying performances from artists, acrobats, musicians and other acts. Food trucks, pop-up shops and art installations will line the street and the outdoor main stage will feature performances from Aloe Blacc, Ozomatli and other musicians. Grand Central Market will also stay open late for the event, so you can chow down there as well.
Seven of Broadway’s beautiful and historic movie palaces— built between 1910 and 1931—will also be open and feature more live performances, interactive art installations, film screenings, fashion presentations and more. The Million Dollar Theatre will feature burlesque dancers, flappers, and swing bands. Over at the Los Angeles Theatre, the Lucent Dossier Experience will perform their avant garde circus-like show, and New American Filmmakers will show short films about L.A. The Theatre at Ace Hotel will feature artists from Mad Decent and the Tower Theater will feature Reggie Watts and other comedians. Plus, there will be tons more to keep you entertained, including a Silent Disco dance party and tons of interactive activities for kids and adults.

To get there, you can take the Metro Red or Purple Line to Pershing Square or there will be a complimentary bike valet provided at 5th street in the festival area. There’s also $7 flat rate parking fee at the City’s Pershing Square Parking Garage for cars entering after 5 p.m. and leaving before 2 a.m.
Night on Broadway runs on Jan. 30 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Broadway between 3rd to 11th streets. The event will take place rain or shine. More info on the event schedule can be found on their website here with more details coming soon.
