We understand how your bank accounts dried have dried up after all the festivities that happened, and how your weight quickly increased, still because of the holidays. That’s why we’ve come up with the best free workouts that you can pull off this winter in D.C. Now let’s burn some calories, shall we?

Use your local ID to exercise for free

Did you know that as a DC resident you have free access not only to the DC Department of Parks & Rec’s (DPR) Fitness Centers, but also to the aquatic facilities in the area? Thanks Mayor Bowser! It is open six days a week and equipped with bike, treadmill, weights, universal weight machines, and more. There are also free yoga classes held at the DC Public Library!

Work out outdoors without draining your wallet

The November Project, which has started in Boston in 2011, is now available in 29 locations worldwide to encourage folks to work out during the winter season. In D.C., the group will be at Meridian Hill Park, NE corner on Mondays at 6:30 am. On the last Monday of the month, they will be at Capitol Hill at 6:30 am, NW corner, and the Lincoln Memorial steps on Wednesdays at 5:25 am and 6:20 am. Check out their Friday locations online.

Yoga that costs only karma

Join free classes at the various Down Dog Yoga locations, just show your local ID and experience seven days of free unlimited yoga. On the weekends, Capitol Hill Yoga offers free Community Yoga class at 6:00 pm that is on a first-come, first-served basis for 25 people. For the newbies, drop by CorePower Yoga and try free classes for a week.

Sweat it up in luxury (if only just for once)

Visit VIDA and try out one class of your choice for free! They have everything from pilates and barre to Zumba and cycling.

Run around town without running up a bill

D.C. offers plenty of unique alternatives to running your own. At Roosevelt Island Park Run, local volunteers host a 5K round the island first thing Saturday morning at 9:00 am. Stick up for a cup of coffee after and meet your fellow runners. Free but registration is required. There’s also the Federal City Runners who offers free weekly fun runs in your neighborhood. The Shake Shack Community Run also offers free with your first drink for free.

Stay home and transform your living room

If you’re really not feeling the cold and don’t want to go outside, have your living room as your gym. Check out POPSUGAR’s Fitness YouTube Channel to start.
