Join journalist Shane Mitchell on the launch of her new book, “Far Afield,” at Omnivore Books on Food on Sunday, November 11th from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in San Francisco, California.
Together with photographer James Fisher, Mitchell travelled the world on assignment for food and travel publications like Travel + Leisure and Saveur. While on the road, the two encountered the amazing people who are preserving the oldest food traditions in the world, such as taro farmers in Hawaii, Maasai warriors in Kenya, and Icelandic shepherds who bears with them the Viking ancestors’ techniques.
“Far Afield: Rare Food Encounters from Around the World” is an extraordinary culinary travel book which features profiles of the stewards of the traditional food ways in the world, including farming, herding and fishing methods, along with 40 recipes.
The book is also filled with stunning photographs captured from far-flung locations, including profiles of the amazing people they met while travelling, along with their captivating stories.
