Can’t fly to Japan this year for the Cherry Blossom season?
Experience the 50th Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, which is said to be the second largest festival outside of Washington, D.C. and is one of California’s most prominent celebrations of Asian cultures. Each year, over 200,000 people attend this dazzling display showcasing the color and grace of the Japanese culture and the diversity of the Japanese American Community.
All are invited at the festivities as San Francisco’s Japantown celebrates Japanese and Japanese-American culture. The festival will start this Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Post Street between Laguna and Fillmore Streets at 11:00 am.
The Grand Parade will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018, beginning at Civic Center, proceeding up Polk to Post Street and ending in Japantown at Post and Fillmore streets.
A number of performers from Japan will also grace us with their presence. Japanese classical (Buyo) and folk dance (Minyo) groups representing the Bay Area will perform throughout the parade route like a myriad of floating butterflies.
