It’s the 21st Annual San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival. And it’s a weekend of world-class dragon boat racing complete with cultural performances and games for adults and kids, all for the biggest dragon boat festival in the United States of America!
Join the fun this Saturday and Sunday, September 17 to 18, at Lake Merritt Boating Center in Oakland. Festival Hours is from 10am to 5pm. All is totally for FREE! Watch the almost 100 dragon boat teams and support your team battle it out on the water.
This year, they are introducing their Dragon Land, a huge pavilion full of activities for the kids, which is open from 10am to 4:30pm all throughout the festival.
The Festival will also entertain the people by preparing lion dance, Hawaiian and Polynesian dances, martial arts demonstrations, Taiko drumming and many more.
Make sure to check out the opening ceremonies with the traditional Chinese blessing of the festival boats ceremony, this will help awaken the dragons and bless the racing. See you there!
